CasaVino is intended to function as both a bar/restaurant and an art gallery. To satisfy both requirements, RPA created a series of different wall planes that establish distinct seating areas, behind which one or two pieces of artwork hang. Low voltage spotlights focus on the art while a soft, ambient light is emitted from simple hanging fixtures above dining and low lounge tables.
Dropped above the bar and seating area, lowered ceiling planes enforce a sense of intimacy while simultaneously activating the space. Sheer curtains hung on recessed tracks in the ceiling can be pulled between bar tables for privacy, the fabric creating an interesting layering effect without foreshortening the space.
